Sometimes antenatal prep looks like long chats over tea and cake. Sometimes it looks like a birth planning session. Sometimes it's learning about essential oils for relaxation, and sometimes it's about ranting about the way an appointment has gone. Sometimes it looks like a couple's call where I support you to work through stuff that's coming up as you explore some potentially tricky topics.
However it looks for you, it is your unique journey as a family.
- Not your normal birth prep! -
I'm not a hypnobirthing practitioner, nor do I teach franchised birthing courses.
I've prepared this antenatal course with the freebirthing/homebirthing family in mind - but this really is for anyone who wants to delve deeper in to birth and parenthood prep, and themselves! Pregnancy can be a time of huge personal growth and transformation.
This isn't a 'how to have a great birth' course. It's a DEEP dive into yourself and your baby, and families often say that the birth prep isn't so much about birth itself; it's about preparing to be the parents our children need us to be.
My intention is for you to leave feeling more at peace; with your decisions, your pregnancy, your birth, in your relationships, and generally in yourself. Being 'at peace' can mean different things for us all, and really we all prepare for birth and parenthood in our own ways.
In this course, we visit topics such as:
We cover things that are simply not addressed in most other birth prep courses:
I send out course materials in advance for each session, including things for to reflect upon and explore further together when we talk. I can point you in the direction of other resources and people for any particular things you may want to learn more about. I will be available via email support between our sessions too.
This course forms part of all my Doula offerings, but is also available as a stand alone thing - plus this course can be taken alongside other birth preparation you're doing. All calls arranged privately at times to suit you, and can be booked at any time during pregnancy - though the earlier, the better, in my opinion!
These comprise of a combination of reading, activities, unique meditations, conversation starters, planning resources, and things to do at home together. Access to a printer is preferable but not essential; these materials are designed to support our calls together, rather than be a source of stress and a feeling of 'homework'. I send materials out a week before each session, to give you time to go through stuff but not overload you.
